The Power of Creating🌼

Create, Grow, Thrive at every age

I’m 70 years old now — and more excited about life than ever! Since turning 55, I’ve discovered The Power of Creating by going back to school for a Master’s in Counselling, written and published books, started three YouTube channels, built blogs, and even learned how to paint. Every step has been extremely challenging but also an adventure in creativity and self-discovery.

And now, I want to share that journey with you to Create, Grow, Thrive at every age !

This blog is all about The Power of Creating — how to rediscover your spark, learn new things, and bring your dreams to life, no matter your age or experience. Because creativity doesn’t fade as we get older — it grows deeper, wiser, and more meaningful.

If I can do it, ( Im dyslexic) so can you! Let’s create something amazing together. There’s something magical about making things — The Power of Creating like writing, painting, baking, planting, designing, building, dreaming. But for many women, that creative spark gets buried under years of responsibility, caretaking, and work. Then, somewhere along the way, society starts whispering that creativity is for the young — that it’s too late to start something new.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

For women, creating isn’t just about art — it’s about reclaiming joy, voice, and purpose. It’s a way to live more deeply and fully, no matter what age you are.

1. Creativity helps you rediscover who you are

By midlife, many women have worn dozens of roles: daughter, mother, partner, professional, caregiver, friend. But who are you beyond those titles? Creative expression — whether it’s journaling, painting, or learning a new craft — helps you reconnect with your inner self.

When you create, you’re not just producing something beautiful; you’re rediscovering yourself. You’re saying: I am more than what I’ve given to others. I am still becoming.

2. It’s deeply healing

Life leaves marks — some joyful, some painful. Creating can help you process them. There’s something profoundly soothing about putting emotions into words, color, or movement. The act itself is a kind of self-care, a gentle way to heal, reflect, and make sense of your story.

You don’t have to be an artist to experience this — you just have to be willing to begin.

3. It builds connection and community

One of the quiet gifts of creativity is how it brings people together. Whether it’s joining a writing circle, taking an online painting class, or starting a local book club, creative spaces invite connection.

They remind us that it’s never too late to make new friends, share our stories, and inspire others. In these communities, older women become mentors, collaborators, and sources of strength for one another.

4. It challenges stereotypes about aging

Every time an older woman like me, starts a YouTube channel, launches a handmade jewelry line, or learns digital photography, she pushes back against the idea that creativity belongs to the young.

Creativity doesn’t fade with age — it deepens. It’s shaped by wisdom, experience, and resilience. Older women have lived through enough to know what really matters — and that gives their work a richness that can’t be faked.

5. It’s a legacy of joy

When you create, you leave something behind — a story, a recipe, a quilt, a garden, a memory. It’s not just what you make, but how you make others feel. Creativity becomes a legacy of joy, love, and authenticity that ripples through families and communities.

Your creativity doesn’t have to change the world. It just has to change your world — and that’s more than enough.

Final Thoughts

It’s never too late to begin again, to pick up a brush, a pen, a camera, or a new dream. Creating is one of the most life-affirming things an older woman can do — not to prove anything, but simply to live with more color, curiosity, and courage. Every new thing I’ve tried has opened another door, another possibility, another piece of myself.

The Power of Creating can heal, inspire, and completely transform your life at any age. If you’ve ever felt that your best years are behind you, I’m here to remind you: they might just be ahead.

Because the truth is: the world needs your voice, your vision, and your story — now more than ever.
